The grounds at Withy Mead Nature Reserve

Flowers Boats Birds Back to Withy Mead home page

There were once formal gardens here, and traces of this can still be seen. Spring flowers dot the lawns, and walkways lead beneath tall trees down to the river.

The flower highlight of the reserve can be seen in late April, when a million Loddon Lilies are in bloom, in the gardens and on the island in the Thames. The summer snowflake Leucojum aestivum is found beside the Thames and Loddon rivers, hence its local name.
